1. Professional, functional, objectives

Our institution offers three types of secondary education based on the primary education.

- The primary objective of the four-form and six-form-grammar schools is to prepare students for a successful final examination, give a chance of higher education for the majority of the students and provide general knowledge for those who want to learn a profession.

-The school provides an opportunity for the students of the secondary school of nursing to ac-quire a higher level of paramedical knowledge by introducing the three- year-training of nursing which is based on the final examination. The capable and hard working students have a possibility to get a certificate of higher educa-tion in paramedical field. Our aim is not only to teach a profession but also to develop human characteristic features which are inevitable in paramedical field: readiness to help, empathy, affection cannot be missing from the individuals in this field.

-The secondary technical school of tourism provides students with comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge. Besides learning the basic professional subjects it is an objective of higher priority to acquire the foreign language -German or Slovakian-so well so that students could apply the profession together with the foreign language during the Final Examination and ,then, later in their work.

-It is very important in all types of school for students to know, feel that the surroundings needed for their development and learning are to their advantages: the institution provides students with opportunities (optional classes, lessons for the preparation for the language ex-amination, study groups for talented students, etc.), and means( chemistry laboratory, biology class, physical apparatus for experiments, a special classroom for Information Technology, a classroom equipped for typing, gym, etc.) which enable them to choose for themselves the opportunities, activities according to their abilities, talent and interests.

2. Evaluation and marking

Measuring and evaluating of the knowledge of the students is an important task for every teacher. On the basis of decision of our staff we measure and grade the knowledge of the stu-dents with five grade marks in every subject.

We can give marks: -oral answer

-activity in the lessons
-writing a closing test of a topic
-writing essays / composition
-doing homework
-making a presentation
-making an essay on a topic chosen individually and discussed in ad-vance
-other opportunity or event which proves the activity, interest, knowledge
and performance of the student
Satisfactory mark is given to the student who performs the minimum requirements which are necessary to go on; who's knowledge is enough to keep on with the others in the class; who's knowledge can be extended both linear both taking the advantage of the other subjects; who is able to reproduce and use his knowledge in practice.
Excellent mark is given to the student who performs the requirements of the curriculum minimum 80% or occasionally in the highest level; who can use his knowledge, can compose his own opinion consistently, who recognises relations between the subjects, and possibilities of their realisation in practice.
Fair and good mark can be given in comparison with the satisfactory and excellent mark, on the basis of the experience and practice.
The students have to have one mark more than the number of lessons they have a week of every subject until the time of the term closing teachers' conference. When the student is evaluated, the teachers have to give reasons and inform the student and write the mark into the attendance book. Writing the mark into the report book is the task of the student, the teacher can control it.

3. The criteria of the progress

The knowledge, behavior and the application of the students are classified twice during the school-year by the teaching-staff.
- At first at the end of the first term, then at the end of the school-year, when the teachers evaluate the progress of the students.
- The half year and year grades can be fixed, if the former decided number of the marks are put in the attendance book. If the number of the marks are fewer, leveling exams can be organized. In this case the subject teacher has to inform the student and the form teacher 2 weeks before the teachers' conference. The form teacher informs the director immedi-ately.
- Only those students can enter higher classes who get pass mark at the end of the school year in every subject.
- Those students who failed in 1-2 subjects can take a retake exam before the beginning of the next school term.
- Those who failed in 3 or more subjects and weren't successful on the retake exam, have to repeat the school year.
- When the teachers give marks at the end of the first half of the year, they consider the stu-dents' marks they got during the half year and their activity on the lesson. Giving the mark at the end of the year they have to evaluate the students' year work.
- If the students would like to make their marks better at the end of the school term, the subject teacher or the director can allow this. The pupils have to fill in a petition with them until the day of the teachers' conference. The teacher gives the opportunity for the correction on the lesson or after the lesson.
- The director can allow the exam after asking the opinion of the form teacher and the sub-ject teacher.
- On the 12th classes the final exam is the condition of the further studies, but only for those who want to apply for a university or collage. Students who failed or did not take final exam can continue their studies on technical courses. They get qualification only when they pass on the final exam.
- If the number of classes attended and absences are more than 250 during the school year, or on the technical course reach the 20%, the student cannot be marked at the end of the school year.
- Grader exam can only be allowed from theoretical subjects.
- The students in technical classes have to repeat the school year if the classes attend and absences on the job training are more than the 20 % of the whole term.
- The form teacher has to inform the illegally absent student's parents immediately when he or she gets knowledge of it.
- The form teacher has to call the parents' attention to the strict rules of the law and its ex-pectable consequences.
