People in Europe have to manage great and demanding tasks, caused by global competition and the forthcoming membership of nations in Middle and Eastern Europe. This requires that more and more people have unlimited access to education and knowledge, in order to be able to e.g. stay competitive on the jobmarket, to get further, acknowledged degrees, to aquire social competence and to develop their personality. Only then they are able to react in a flexible and appropriate way to the changes that are ahead.
So there are manifold perspectives for a dialogue and exchange for citizens in the European Union.
To support this development the Staatliche Fachoberschule und Berufsoberschule Kaufbeuren decided to take part in the SOKRATES project.
SOKRATES
- promotes internationalisation of the educational systems in Europe
- contibutes enormously to their increase in quality
- includes many projects in schools, universities and education of
adults
- and is a motor for the exchange across the borders of pupils,
students, teachers and lecturers, which is getting more and more
important.
Aim of the sub-project “COMENIUS 1: projects for school development” is the development of multilateral school partnerships within the framework of European educational projects in the sector of school development.
For the
Staatliche Fachoberschule und Berufsoberschule Kaufbeuren this means:
- international cooperation of ten schools and teams of teachers from
eight European nations. Visits at partner schools in Portugal, The
Netherlands and the Czech Republic took place as mobility measures.
- work on projects that deal with the precise examples of school
management, pedagogical approaches and questions of school
development. An evaluation of the learning process of students and
the conduct of teaching of teachers was carried out. In the course of
this an engaged exchange of experiences via e-mail developed.
There was an participation in project meetings in Hungary, The
Netherlands, Greece, Portugal and Italy.
- working out precise materials to the chosen topics that are suitable
for distribution. Questionnaires to evaluate the concuct of teaching
were worked out by the project team und are available for all
members of the teaching staff. In the Mathematics department
instruments were developed for that subject that explicitly present
the values, attittudes, abilities and skills of the students. All results
available to a wide public (see www.scgenerala.s5.com).
The maxim is “think globally, act locally”. Due to the common European project work precise instruments for evaluation were developed for the Staatliche Fachoberschule und Berufsoberschule, that have already had a positive influence on the relation between students and teachers and on school life in general.
